Ladies over 30, your opinions, please?

No offense to the youngsters but I%26#039;m really too old to be dressed by a teenager.

So. Would you accessorize a clear red dress, simply tailored but feminine, with a black bag and shoes or with a tan bag and shoes? I don%26#039;t have red ones, plus I think that would be too much red. And I%26#039;ll be wearing gold jewelry. Right now I%26#039;m leaning toward tan accessories if it%26#039;s a warm day, black if it%26#039;s cold. Don%26#039;t know why.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Ladies over 30, your opinions, please?
Go with tan. Black and red together is so late 1980s, two very stark colors. Gold accentuates tan very nicely, and tan is a softer, more feminine color than black.
Reply:Either are great but tan will look more fresh like spring time. Also you didn%26#039;t ask this but I thought I%26#039;d pass on what Stacey and Clinton from What Not to Wear say about bags and shoes: They don%26#039;t have to match each other as long as both %26quot;go with%26quot; your outfit, in case that expands your choices.
Reply:It%26#039;s too early to wear tan.
Reply:black is best with red.

save tan for white or neutral colors
Reply:sounds nice. I think if you were wearing a tan dress, the red accessories would be nice, but the other way around, I think black is the way to go [ or red ].
Reply:BLACK!!
Reply:Yes, black.
Reply:I would go with the black. Black and red go together nicely. It%26#039;s classy, and makes you look younger.

Tan seems to be something an older generation would wear.

(By the way....I%26#039;m only 14. Not all of us have bad taste...)
Reply:Im not over 30 but my mom asks for advice all the time, black is more classy, i think black bag, black heels and a simple gold necklace would be very nice
Reply:definitely go with the black rather than the tan... tan is becoming more of an older woman fashion trend... like really old. black is sharp and matches very well with the red and gold.
Reply:It depends. Are you looking for casual or dressy. Casual calls for the tan and dressy calls for the black

I%26#039;m 38 by the way.
Reply:BLACK!
Reply:I%26#039;m sorry, but I am a teenager. Hah. I dress my mother and her friends, and I do have very adult taste. I live in New York City if that speaks to my knowledge or style at all.

And of course, as a New Yorker, I%26#039;m biased to black. Over all, it has a more elegant and clean appearance. Red and black are a classic combination and you can never go wrong with them. They have a certain presence and edge. Tan and red never spoke to me though. I%26#039;m an artist, and my knowledge of color tells me that combination with gold jewlery will fall short aesthetically. It works at times, but its usually more appropriate for a summery environment.

Edit: I assume that someone thumbs-downed me purely because of my age. I hope that they understand that its pure ageism to assume that my opinion loses validity just because of the fact that I%26#039;m 17 years old. I assure you, I know what I%26#039;m talking about. I had the class to be honest about my age, the rest of you adult women should have the class to respect my opinion.
Reply:personally for me I would go with the black. Red and tan is too much like a sportscar and it%26#039;s interior.
Reply:In my opinion I would go with black. It goes perfectly with red and looks very sophisticated. Tan and red match but black sets off the red.
Reply:go with black
Reply:I would go with the black. I have never thought red and tan go together. The black would look more elegant.
Reply:It depends on what the occasion is. Black for very dressy occasions and tan for little less dressy. Personally I think the tan would look very nice. I have a red skirt with tan embroidery on it and it is beautiful
Reply:my lady black and red all the way theres nothing hotter than a lot of red offset by a slight hint of black
Reply:I would do black...to me, tan doesn%26#039;t go as well with red as black does.
Reply:Black%26#039;s better, but not if you plan bare legs (i.e no Tights/Stockings/Pantyhose) Then Tan possibly, I guess that%26#039;s more for warmer weather

Reply:well, when you don%26#039;t have certain items in your wardrobe, the best way to build a complete wardrobe on a budget, is to stick with three colors that do contrast well. Like red, black, and white. Tan does not go with red. That is just my opinion. If you have a black purse and shoes, I would go that way with the dress, and maybe a white sweater if you are going out when it is cool. Conversely, you could use a white purse with white shoes, or black shoes, and a white or black sweater. A nice shawl or scarf works well too. Stick with the color scheme though. I would also suggest taking a trip to the thrift store. For just a few dollars, you can purchase the sweater, shawl, shoes, or purse that will go with the dress, and will be the correct color, therefore making you look very glamorous!
Reply:definately go with the black. u want the dress to stick out more than the accesories tan isnt in right now
